DVSS Webpart not appearing RRS feed

  • Question

    Hi,

Im trying to deploy my dashboard onto sharepoint site.

Before installing PPS itself i have created a web application and Site collection. And during the configuration of PPS , i have specified this site for deplyoing Dashboard viewer webpart.

Now after completing the creation of dashboard and succefully deploying it onto a Document library(which i have created in the site collection's main page/master page), when im trying to add the Dashboard viewer webpart, Im not able to find the webpart in galleries. I even tried to populate galleries using advanced property but was of no use.

Does anybody know any way to get DVSS in the gallery?

is there any custom .cab installation that needs to be followed after configuring PPS for the webpart to appear in the list of galleries?

  • Rakesh,

When you install DVSS using the Monitoring Server Configuration Manager the webpart solution is named PSCWebparts.cab.  If you look in Central Administration->Operations->Solution Management is pscwebparts.cab listed and deployed?

In the Master Gallery do you see the PerformancePointDefault.master which is the master page?  Below is what Monitoring Configuration Manager does during the install.

The component Dashboard Viewer for SharePoint Services (DVSS) contains the following

    -          A web part solution (PSCWebparts.cab)

    -          A custom master page (PerformancePointdefault.master)

During installation of this component, the Configuration Manager does the following:

    a.       Adds PSCWebparts.cab to the Solution Store of the SharePoint Web Server.

    b.      Deploys PSCWebparts.cab to the SharePoint Web application of the site collection selected in Configuration Manager.

    c.       Deploys PerformancePointdefault.master locally on the site collection selected (top level only)

    d.      Configures the web.config of the selected SharePoint site collection

Let say for example, the site collection http://Contoso_company:50000/sites/HR/ is selected in Configuration Manager for DVSS. During installation of DVSS,

    a.       PSCWebparts.cab is added to the Solution Store of the SharePoint web server.

    b.      PSCWebparts.cab is deployed as a solution on http://Contoso_company:50000/

    c.       PerformancePointdefault.master is added to http://Contoso_company:50000/sites/HR/_catalogs/masterpage/

  • Rakesh,

Did you do the DVSS install directly on the SharePoint server?  It should have created the webpart automatically for you.

The cab file is called PSCWebparts.cab.  Please see this blog posting as you can install it manually:

  • Hi Aseem,

I have referred that blog earlier but it explains how to install webpart in a new webapplication.

I have done the DVSS install onto a sitecollection that i created. Can you name the webparts that gets deployed onto sharepoint after PPS Monitoring is configured?

I Could find only Performance Point Dashboarditem webparts in galleries. This is taking only the items in the dashboard like report, scorecard etc.

will there be a Dashboard Viewer webpart as well? where we can specify only the dashboard from the document library?

I have configured Monitoring server correctly, do u know any reasons why Dashboard Viewer webpart dint come up?

    Thnx in advance

  • Aseem,

I see both .cab file and the default, master in sharepoint.

I was under the impression that DVSS is a WEBPART. Now i get it that DVSS is a component.

I was actually looking for a webpart which can be used to show Dashboards of PPS(amn those deployed in document library).

Is there any webpart that can be used to do this ??

    or

i need to create a link for the deployed page in document library and show it as a link in site collection default page?

    or

    use a page viewer webpart...

Do you know any other way to show a dashboard in sharepoint?

I have used BSM earlier and i guess there is a specific webpart for BSM in sharepoint which can be used to show the dahsboards. I was thinking in similar lines for PPS as well.

    Thanks

    Rakesh
