Sharing Protected File with External User RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have witnessed a scenario whereby 'UserA@a.com' share protected a PDF file and shared with 'UserB@b.com'. UserB's organization does not have Office365 / Azure AD. Therefore, the approach was UserB to proceed to portal.aadrm.com to create an account and view the secured document. Upon entering UserB@b.com e-mal into Microsoft Rights Management welcome page, the user is directed to the sign-in page (Without any confirmation e-mail sent). Attempted to use the "Can't access your account?" and was faced with "The user ID you entered does not exist. Please check that you have typed your user ID correctly.". what went wrong?

  • Can you reproduce this?

  • Yes. It seems that any e-mail address using this particular domain (e.g. @abc.com | I am not comfortable to share the domain here) will not be able to get the verification e-mail in http://portal.aadrm.com . Therefore, the viewers have no access to read the shared doc, as they are always redirected to the sign-in page.
