Can I convert English packages to another language? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Setting up a secondary site in Japan.  They use Japanese language edition of Windows 2008 R2.  We will install the ICP on our central site, the new secondary, and Japanese clients.  I have dozens of packages (MS Office 2007, Adobe CS, etc) created in English.  Can these be converted somehow to Japanese language for Japanese clients?  If not supported/possobile, are there good 3rd party products that can do this?

If can't be done this will probably kill the project to expand to Japan at least for this year....

  • It's not a matter of ConfigMgr (and/or ICPs), but that software itself. There's nothing to "convert". You either have to install a language pack (if available) or install a localized version.

Hmmm.  Sorry to ask another way:  Software packages created using a MUI 'should' work with Japanese language?  Several office products were created using the MUI.  i.e. Office 2007 Pro (MUI installer).  This title can then be deployed to Japanese users as long as they have the Office language pack?

Many of our Adobe product packages were created in 'English (US)' from volume downloads.
