Microsoft Outlook font color always defaults to red. How can I change that? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have gone through the options to set my font color, size, etc, and my emails do default to that color when typing, but the big 'A' under Basic Text in the ribbon is always set to red and I'd like it set to the default color I set up under options.  How do I do this?

  • Hi Michael,

I'm afraid this is the expected behavior not only in Outlook, you will see the same behavior in other Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.). Currently, there is no easy option to change the default font color of the button, but it will remember the last selected color if you keep Outlook open. You may consider to create a new message, change the color to the color you want, then close the message. Then, the button will remember the color you have changed unless you restart Outlook or change it to another color.
