How can I sync a field in project to the "description" category in sharepoint? RRS feed

  • I have been trying to use Project Professional 2013 to edit a to-do list set up in SharePoint Foundation 2013, but there is no option to map to the default "description" field in project:

    Here are the default fields in SharePoint:

    Adding a field called "description" in project results in a new field "description (2)" in sharepoint, but this is not going to work for what I'm trying to do. Is there any way to make this work through either project or sharepoint, or is it a limitation of the software?

  • Hi John,

    I was able to sync data from SharePoint 2013 to Project 2013 by using the Notes field.  I was not successful getting the description field from SharePoint to work.  My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the Description field is a rich text field and there are few of those with the exception of Notes in Project.  Map the fields in Project (Notes to Notes) and then copy the description to the Notes field in SharePoint.
