SCCM 2012 Reporting Website (Custom Website) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently we have our own customized website for SCCM 2007 reports to access our custom reports by IT/Project manager to monitor their deployment status

Question: Did SCCM 2012 reporting point (SSRS) replaces our website,Because we have not only the reports published on our custom website also we have the Knowledge Based documents published on the website, any suggestions on this.

  • Configmgr doesn't create the SSRS website, SSRS does and it doesn't run in IIS so I think you are safe.

  • How do you want to customize it?

  • Hi Garth,

Customize in the sense,It should be a central repository for all SCCM reports, all process document information, the announcements on the major roll-outs and some utilities for the local ITs,so that everybody (Field Support engineers and Project Managers) across the regions can be able to access this website for the ease of administration/information.

  • Yes, you can upload just about anything to the SSRS website but keep in mind that CM12 will control the security on each files. Also keep in mind non-RDL files will NOT show up within the CM12 console therefore, it will be a challenge to make everything work right.

The real question is: Does this made sense? Why not create a SharePoint site or something else and have the CM12 reports be a link off of that site? This make much more sense and will allow for all the customization that you could ever want.

  • Hi Garth,

Thanks for the response,In our current SCCM 2007 reports are linked to our own designed website to access,What i thought was If SSRS replaces our website,Can we do the best or not?

I have the same Idea in my mind as you said, Creating a Sharepoint Site to link our SCCM 2012 reports to that.I have to work on this. Thanks

  • Due to the amount of customization that you want to do, I would leave the CM12 SSRS site alone and create another site that links in the CM12 SSRS reports.
