  • I also had a problem on my DPM server after the upgrade, the console wouldn't open (it was gray).

So I uninstalled DPM (retain data) and reinstalled DPM 1801, then updated it to 1807 and it was working.

On the operator server I installed this:

    \\DPMSERVER\C$\Program Files\Microsoft System Center\DPM\DPM\agents\RA\5.1.378.0\amd64\1033\DPMAgentInstaller_KB4339950_AMD64.exe

After this I could run the DPM Remote Administration console.

  • Hi,

    Follow the steps below.

On your server where you have DPM Remote Administration's console installed:

    1. Open up a File Explorer
    2. Head to one of the following paths (depending what you're using)
      64-Bit: amd64\1033\DPMProtectionAgent_KB4339950.msp or
      32-Bit: i386\1033\DPMProtectionAgent_KB4339950.msp

The full path can be like: \\DPMSERVER\C$\Program Files\Microsoft System Center\DPM\DPM\agents\RA\5.1.378.0\amd64\1033
    3. Run the DPMAgentInstaller_KB4339950_AMD64.exe / DPMAgentInstaller_KB4339950.exe as Administrator
    4. Complete the installation and then try running the DPM console on your remote server (note: it might take some seconds for the console to open).

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • It won't matter, if you have the DPM remote administration installed only on the server, install first the rollup 1 update and then do the steps I mentioned above.

I tested this on a server that didn't have DPM agent installed.

  • i have instaled one dpm server and one operator server with remote console...

in the operator server is instaled remote console 1801.  in the kb4339950 is not package for remote console. If i run dataprotectionmanager-kb4339950_df898dc70f7d42d3dbfea90e39b74a8c49c3be64, the instalation fail.

in the server with dpm return this error

  • The Update Rollup 1 for System Center Data Protection Manager should be installed on the DPM server only, you can check my guide on how to install it.

I did the following in my lab:

    • I had a operator server, Windows Server 2012 R2 that has no DPM agent installed.
    • I installed the DPM 1801 Remote Administrations console on the operator server and checked that it worked fine with my DPM 1801, it was successful.
    • I then installed the update 1807 on my DPM server which was successful.
    • After this I could not use the DPM Remote Administration console on my operator server (Windows Server 2012 R2 server).
    • I then did the steps in my post above on my operator server (Windows Server 2012 R2) and after that I could successfully use the DPM Remote Administration console again.

Are you able to perform the steps mentioned in my post above on your operator server?

  • Same problem and same environment. I solved installing "dpmmanagementshell-kb4339950_b71482d6275d505e45b66d655938aa9046f7cf10.exe" that is one of the binaries included in the update package.
