  • Hi,

Have you tried to update all available drivers for test?

  • Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:

    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
    *
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do
    Press Win+"R" and input regedit

    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

  • When I get to this point, "Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx, the system says ,"The system file cannot be specified." Tried to save it in a few different locations.

Did you do the fix suggested at the end of my post for 8.1 systems?

I just deleted the post of the error file. When I posted it, it came up with a photo of a moon. Even though when I looked at it in onedrive it opened the log file.  trying again.https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=2C896D862E3B4B36!6188&authkey=!ABHRn3oDiA7wdn8&ithint=file%2cevtx

ok, I ran SFC and in the dos windows it says it found errors. there are 3 cbspersist files also. do you wan those. below is the log files on onedrive

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>

    cbs log file.

Did you run DISM as shown at the end of the wiki?

  • before I attempt the DISM I thought I should state that windows 8 was install via an upgrade over windows 7 So I don't have a disc with the full windows 8, will this make a difference?

It should not but in either case you should have a backup.  At some point you may need to do a clean install so you may want to beg, or borrow a disc

  • Wanikia and Dyami. Thank you. I took a break and repeated your steps from the wiki and had success on the final run of sfc /scannow, no errors. will check again from time to time. I also put your wiki in my favorites for safe keeping. Again TY
