Microsoft FCS and FEP Installation RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • One of my client are having more than 38,000 end users which want to deploy on Microsoft FCS/FEP. Currently they are having McAfee installed in their systems but wanted to migrate from McAfee to FCS/FEP.

I am looking for a script to uninstall McAfee in silent mode which will remove the uninstalling password of McAffe and reboot the systems after uninstallation with the help of Active Directory GPO

And Looking for a script which will help me to configure/deploy FCS/FEP client on all 38,000 users and push the policy.

Please help me out because this is something urgent.

    Thank You!

  • Hi,

If you use McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (version 8.5 or/and version 8.7), therefore you don't need a script because the FEP client automaticaly uninstalls MCAfee http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff823900.aspx

  • Hi Bechir,

Client wanted to migrate on FCS not on FEP. And they are having McAfee 8.0 version installed in across all the machine.

    Thank you!

  • Ok, in this case you can use FCS deployment tool which contain a script to remove MCAfee 8.0 http://fcscompete.codeplex.com/releases/view/14440

  • Thanks a lot Bechir to spend sometime on this thread with me. Much Appreciated!!

However, I have already tried to run the deployment tool but was getting some error. I have gone thru the technical guide itself. Let me try to run the deployment tool again and will send you the error screenshot. Could you please share your email id with me?

I have read somewhere that, we could even install FCS client with the help of WSUS but I am not microsoft guy, so no idea about it. Is this statement correct?

  • Yes follow the guide, the tool works and I use it. And yes you can deploy the FCS client via WSUS http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb418807.aspx ; http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb404285.aspx but in this case you should run the MCafee script with a diffrent way like a gpo, psexec http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897553, ... before to install the FCS client.

  • As per deployment tool:

Extract the Zip file into a specified folder on the management server and click Microsoft.FSC.deployment.exe to activate the tool. [Do I need user management server in this case?]

If I am not having Management Server then it will not work? And in which folder I should extract this deployment tool zip folder?

I am so sorry to ask lots of Q :-(
