Skype for business 2015 - archiving problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have problem with archiving conversation history in sfb client.

I installed one SFB standard server (I haven't edge server yet). On that server I installed MS SQL 2014, and I created a instance for archiving. I published topology according to this instruction: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn933919.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

When I open database LcsLog in the dbo.messages table i see all conversations. The problem is that I do not see this conversations in sfb client. What could be the reason ?

In sfb client when i click on the archive coversation tab I see a red exclamation mark, and error:

There is the error: "there are problems with connectivity with Exchange. You can not download a conversation history".

But I am using SQL archiving not Exchange. Skype and exchange are not connected together yet.

    The output of Get-CSClientPolicy:

  • Hi,

SQL server archiving DB only for compliance purpose not for end user.

To use conversation history folder, SfB client need to successfully need to connect EWS services.

Certain features such as conversation history, Voice mail can be provide via Exchange only.

  • Hi,

There is no relationship between Back-End SQL message archiving and conversation history.

Conversation history to work you should able to connect to exchange web services, otherwise it will not work.

Need find out what is the EWS issue.

Is SIP domain and email domain is same?

Do you have EWS autodiscover record configured?

  • Thank you for your response.

Yes SIP domain and email domain is same. Why you ask?

Yes, I have EWS record configured.

I have to already perform the connection procedure between skype and exchange.

    Tell me please,

    1.

What is the reason to keep archive conversation in MS SQL if user does not have access to it via sfb client? It is only for administrator?

    2.

The only way to have conversation history in sfb client is:

-communicate exchange and skype? (in this way conversation is holding on the server)

-install outlook (for example for "pop3" users) (in this way in outlook skype create folder "History conversation") - conversation is hold locally.

    whether understand correctly?

    3.

how can I provide conversation history for users which: does not have Exchange account enabled and does not have outlook (they are using thunderbird for example) ?

    Regards,

    Piotr
