Migrating drives from internal SATA to LSI SAS controller with S2D

    Question

  • Hi, I have an S2D cluster using a few SATA SSDs per node all attached to the basic built in Intel SATA controller (C612 chipset).  If I pop in an LSI SAS card in IT mode can I migrate the drives over to it without destroying the cluster?  I'm OK with breaking the "array" temporarily as long as it will rebuild to the same drive once moved to the LSI controller.

    Thanks!

  • No, you can't. You will completely exhaust your "FTT" by swapping all the drives on one of your nodes.
