Product not listed for updates - Visual Studio 2015 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    In the company I work for I manage the WSUS server and users are unable to select what updates they can install. All updates are controlled by WSUS. I have one user that wishes to get updates for Visual Studio 2015, but this is not listed as an option to deploy under the "Products and Classifications" option in the WSUS console. The following are listed:

    Developer Tools, Runtimes, and Redistributables

    -->Report Viewer 2005

    -->Report Viewer 2008

    -->Report Viewer 2010

    -->Visual Studio 2005

    -->Visual Studio 2008

    -->Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime

    -->Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime

    -->Visual Studio 2010

    -->Visual Studio 2012

    -->Visual Studio 2013

    I am currently using WSUS version 3.2.7600.226

    Visual Studio 2015 was released on July the 20th 2015, should this be listed as a product in WSUS?

    Thanks

    Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

    I checked it in my WSUS server, it seems that Visual Studio 2015 is not available at present.

    Here is the screenshot of my lab:

    Best Regards.

  • Hi Steven,

    Do you have any information about when Visual Studio 2015 will show up as Product?

    Regards,
    Fredrik

  • It's still not showing up for me either.

  • This is crazy. For large organisations that have to roll these updates out you give us WSUS. Then you don't put VS2015 on it!! We cannot download the updates from VS2015 as it's against corporate policy so how do we centrally manage this problem?

  • I just discovered this today myself. It's completely insane this has been out this long and still isn't in WSUS

  • Hi Steven,

    Your answer is incomplete, how or when will it be listed in WSUS??  VS2015 is on update 3 already and yet it is still not listed and you do not provide any help whatsoever.

  • Hi Bennie,

    I've unmarked my reply and sorry for the inconvenience.

    I posted the first reply to rule out the possibility that this is a technical issue.

    If this update is able to be installed with command-line in quiet mode, as a workaround, we are able to deploy this update with group policy:

    1. Upload the update file to a shared server and give read permission to everyone.
    2. Write a script to determine if this update has been installed and if no, install the update.

    Best Regards,

    Steven Lee

  • Any update on this? How do we get VS 2015 and above updated with security patches, if not through WSUS?
