Simple Q on Interactive Response Group creation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am pretty much stumped at question 1 on the Interactive Response Group web page.

"Enter the address of the group that will receive the calls:"

And then it looks like it is asking for a SIP address. So...what are they looking for here?

All that help has to offer is: "Enter the address of the group that you want to answer calls to the workflow." I don't particularly want a group to answer calls to the workflow. Isn't the point of this to ask the caller to make a choice and THEN it gets sent to a group to answer?

I created a Response Group Group or two, but those don't apply here.

Do I create an AD group? And if so, what is the point of this AD group? Who would be the members?

I understand every other question on this form except for the first one.

    Thanks.

  • You are asked to enter unique name which will be used by the form to create contact object in AD. Unlike OCS, where we had to create the contact object first and then use it, Lync does it at once. I use suggestive names - for example main-switchboard@mydomain.com, atlanta-switchboard@mydomain.com and so on. You are correct, however, that the wording is somewhat misleading.

  • So I'll just throw random things in there and not worry about it.

    Thanks.

  • Now you sound scary :-)

You must comply with RFC. Your sip-uri cannot contain white spaces i.e. "Main Switchboard" etc. Suggestive names are still the best option because one day, when you have 30-40 Workflows and forgot what WKFL33 was about, you will remember this post...

  • Thanks Drago.

I wish that Microsoft would simply have put that in their documentation. Otherwise, all you get is a message saying that the group failed to create for some unknown reason; and nothing gets entered in the event logs.
