Transition From Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 RRS feed

  • Hello…

    -          We’ve Exchange 2003 and we’d like to migrate to Exchange 2010. Exchange 2003 is installed in ForestA

    -          We want to deploy Exchange 2010 in a Resource Forest (ForestB). ForestB is a trusted forest

    -          Users must be (remain) in ForestA and Mailboxes in ForestB

Which are the steps that we have to realize ??

    1)      Install and Configure Exchange 2010 in Forest B

    2)      Create user accounts in ForestB and deny logon to them.

2.1) Is it necessary to use ADMT if we don’t want to migrate users from ForestA to ForestB at this moment?

2.2) If we want to migrate users from ForestA to ForestB in the future…. is it better to use ADMT at this moment?

    3)      Move mailboxes from ForestA to ForestB

    4)      Create Linked Mailboxes..

    5)      Synchronize Exchange elements from ForestA to ForestB

    Is this right?

What tool would be necessary to use to step 3 & 4 & 5? Powershell? Quest Software?

    Thanks in advance
