Roaming Profiles and Redirected Folders

    Pregunta

  • Using Roaming Profiles w/Redirected Folders but just discovered that the Redirected Folders GPO has stopped working. This is probably due to MS16-072; we'll troubleshoot it.

    My question involves the user folders that were being redirected and are now stored as part of their roaming profiles.

    I assume that after we get Redir Folders working again we will have to go into each user's Roaming Profile folder on the servers and delete the content of those folders?

    When Redir Folders are enabled and working properly, does the Roaming Profile not sync files to the server because they are not physically present on the local machine?

    Thanks >> Joe

Respuestas

  • In case this helps someone else.

    Re-enabling Redirected Folders GPO does the following:

    1. Replaces the content of the redirected folder on the server with current data (if one exists), any prior content is removed;

    2. Removes the corresponding redirected folder from the local machine;

    3. Removes the corresponding redirected folder from the Roaming Profile share on the server.

    #2 above explains why the Roaming Profiles GPO does not sync Redirected Folders.

  • If your clients are running Windows 10, have you thought about using Enterprise State Roaming
