the security certificate has expired or is not yet valid in Exchange sever 2008

  • Hello,

I have went through all the steps to enable a new certificate on my Exchange Server 2008 and that was successful but all user computers are still looking at the old expired license that I have removed from the Exchange server. How do I tell the the workstations to look at the new license?

  • Hi,

Please verify if your Exchange server is using the new certificate:

    1. Open IIS, right click your default web side and choose properties.

    2. In Directory Security tab, click "View Certificate", make sure that this is the new certificate you created.

    3. Click Start-Run, type IISrest to restart IIS services.

Then test to see if the issue persists.

If the clients still looking at the old certificate, please help me to collect the following information for further research:

    1. Open Exchange Management Shell, type:

    Get-exchangeCertificate |fl|out-file c:\certificate.txt

    2. Please open the c:\certificate.txt file and then post the content here.

Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks Gen Lin-MSFT
