Making exact copy from Emergency Database? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My database is working under SQL Server 2000 environment. It’s been marked as suspected and I’ve put it into emergency mode and backup/restore mode is not working now.

I also tried to import/export to another database but it is not making exact copy of the old database (I have issues with some key being marked as identity specification in the old DB, and it doesn’t have such a mark when imported into a new database).

Any suggestions how to make the exact database copy?

  • Right click the database in SQL Server then goto Tasks-Copy Database; but really, do you want you clone a suspect database??

  • The problem here might be that the new database has identity specifications on some columns, so you should temporarily disable it using:
    SET IDENTITY_INSERT {name of the table} ON
