Microsoft Access 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to generate an email from the database once i update a table. I am using a form to input data that feeds the table. I have a product assigned to each of my employees and depending on which product i choose from a combo box i want the employee associated with that product to receive the email. Can this be done with a macro? If so how? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Good quesiton for the office forum over at http://answers.microsoft.com.

Unfortunately your post is off topic here, in the MSDN Subscriptions forum, because it is not regarding the MSDN Subscription.  Its not that we dont care, we just dont know anything about Office here, and you're better off asking the experts.

  • I wouldn't advise a macro (I never advise macros for a variety of reason).  Simple code on the after update of the form could do a dlookup basedon your product combo box to determine the proper user/email, and then a sendobject command could send the email.  I'm happy to help you with the necessary code.  it would take about 5 lines of code, 10 lines if you include error trapping.
