  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

For this issue, the following are possible causes for this event:

    • The web.config file for the /adfs/ls site is malformed.

    • The web.config file has an invalid configuration that the Federation Service does not support. For example, this event can occur if the web.config file does not specify the SAML or WS-Federation endpoint Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs).

The following are possible resolutions for this event:

    • Fix the malformed data in the web.config file. For more information to help resolve this issue, see the additional data that is provided in this event.

    • Ensure that the Federation Service supports the configuration of the property that is specified in this event.

    Hope this is helpful.

  • I am seeing this same error. I've looked at the microsoft.identityServer.proxyservice.exe.config file, and it's 2KB in size, but the whole file is blank (appears to be all spaces). I've tied deleting the file and then using Install-WebApplicationProxy with the hopes it would re-create the file, but it too fails, yielding the same error that the file is Malformed, and that the Root element is missing. Is there another option to restore this?
