your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable.

  • Hi All,

in my scenario we have  exchange servers in two different domains. we have enabled the corss forest trust and and moved the user mail boxes to the remote exchange and mapped the user who are in source site as a linked mail boxes. however the mail box remote move request was fine and mail flow is working fine too. But when we used the OOF settings on Outlook 2010 and trying to setup the automatic reply, it gives the error stating as follows.

" Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable. Try again later."

this error occurred desktop is connected to the source domain as a memeber machine. How ever we can set the out of office settings using OWA. it works fine. also if we connected this desktop to the remote forest then the this out of office is working fine in outlook 2010. this error occurred only when the pc's are connected to the source domain. any body have any idea why this is happening ? is it due to any time out when going through the site to site?

  • The OOF feature is based on the autodiscover service, please check if the autodiscover works by:

    1. While Outlook is running, click the CTRL key and then right-click the Outlook icon in the system tray and then select “Test Email Autoconfiguration”.

    2. Confirm that your email address is in the address field, uncheckUse Guessmart” and “secure Guessmart authentication” boxes. Then click the “Test” button.

    3. Once it runs, capture a screen shot of the Log tab and Results tab.

If autodiscover does not work, I suggest we refer to the following article to deploy the autodiscover service between the AD forests:
