client device can still download the old version of the file RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an application which contains some xml files. After deploying this application to the client device, I changed some values in an xml file and updated the DP but the client device can still download the old version of the file. What am I missing?
    Thanks

  • Hi,

When the source file location for a deployment is updated by adding new files or replace existing files with a newer version, you can update the content files on distribution points by using the Update Distribution Points or Update Content action:
    For more details, see:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/servers/deploy/configure/deploy-and-manage-content#update-content

Configuration Manager client downloads its client policy on a schedule that you configure as a client setting. You can also start client policy retrieval with client notification, see:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/clients/manage/manage-clients#BKMK_PolicyRetrieval

  • Hi,

I would recommend to you to delete the old deployment, create a new application with the new XML files and deploy it. Make attention to the detection method.
