Pop up submission form not showing

    Question

  • A popup submission form that is expected to display in front of a open PDF document on internet explorer does not work.

In another browser we see the following

Internet explorer seems to open the popup submission form first and then the PDF. It looks like the popup submission form is hidden behind the pdf document.

When refreshing the screen I can see the popup submission form for split seconds before the reload.

    The debugger shows these errors

From the top to "HTML1300: Navigation occurred." is where the popup submission displays. After that the PDF comes into the picture and the popup(I guess) goes to the background.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

The problem has been in Internet Explorer since at least IE6, thru last and final IE11.  See the 2008 msdn link below for example.

The good news is, this universally despised IE behavior is finally corrected in MS-Edge.  Try the DRAG-THE-PIG.html demo and see.

  • Hi Nasier Jaffer,

Based on your description, by adjusting Internet Explorer's privacy settings, you could affect how websites monitor your online activity.

For example, you could decide which cookies are stored, how and when sites could use your location info, and block unwanted pop-ups.

Change security and privacy settings for Internet Explorer:

    Best Regards,

    Tao

  • The first demo below shows the issue.  Namely, the subject falls behind the pdf frame, instead of appearing in front of it as intended.

The second demo below contains a workaround.  It has a drawback that the pdf frame will fail to participate in background-transparency, if that is desired.
