  • Hi,WMSolar,

Mail enabled security group cannot be managed via Exchange 2010,you should set operation permission in AD to give user access to manage it.I recommend you to change the security group to a Distribution group and manage it using distribution group management due to security perspective.Check the below articles for more details

  • Hi

You can look at using the MyDistributionGroups management role is one of the built-in RBAC roles in Exchange 2010.

You can use the ECP or EMS to add permissions etc.

    Nice article regarding this:

  • Hi,

We had previously turned on the distribution group management settings but these do not allow users to change security groups that are being used as Email distribution groups.

Any ideas on how to allow users to manage security group membership similar to distribution groups?

  • Hi

to change members in distribution group you need to select in ADUC in properties of this group on tab Managed By select user and check Manager can update membership list.

  • We have selected Managed By in ADUC for that group but it does not give them access.  This option works for those email distribution groups that are Not security groups.   How do we give them access to modify security groups that are used as distribution groups?
