Problems in management of Distribution Groups in Exchange 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I did that:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/11/18/3408844.aspx

    and it worked perfectly...  almost.

Owners can now manage the groups they own, etc.

BUT, the problem I have is with "open" distribution lists that cannot be managed like we would, by everybody (When I set them as "Open. Anyone can join/leave this group without being approved by the group owners."  Even with this option chosen, only owners can manage them currently.

Is there a way to also fix this properly (without checking the box "My Distribution Groups" in User Roles...)

    THX!

  • Not sure what you mean, "open" to join or leave the group?

    Can you clarify the issue?

  • It's clear.

    are you killing me?

ALL users cannot modify the membership of distribution lists even if it is configured to OPEN.

  • Modify is one thing and joining is another.

  • I don't think so...

But if you think yes, does not matter to me...

Anyway:  Users can't JOIN or MODIFY.

  • With the options set as above, a user can JOIN the group.

Are you sayng that if a user goes to OWA an tries to join they can;t, if yes, what error if any do they get on that screen when trying?

  • I really think it's too complicated for you...  you should leave somebody with more skills answer...

User SHOULD be able to join but they can't.  Because of the architecture of Exchange 2010.

You didn't read and/or understood the article in my fisrt post so it's impossible for you to help.

The error message is also in the first article...

    Anyway...

    ;)

  • I dont know what you're on about, maybe it;s not clear enough for me, I;ll stop wasting my time with this one, good luck!

Oh, I think you need to understand the architecture before you post.
