  • Dears

We are going to implement Exchange 2016 DLP, hence, we have some questions want to clarify before do it.

1.Did the DLP can applied to specific AD OU's or specific senders ?

2.Did the DLP has the approval process, like if User A sends a mail that validate the defined the policy, the mail will forwarded to supervisor for approval ?

3.Did the DLP support the count of  some sensitive information, like if the attachment was a word document, and it contains citizen's ID,  if the word just contains one citizen's ID, the mail can be send without problem, however ,if the word contains more than 100 citizen's ID, the mail can't be send.

    Thanks

  • 1 - Yes.

    2 - Yes.

    3 - No.

The rules for DLP allow a lot of flexibility, but the last scenario you have is not possible. You can only process DLP rules on emails with attachments that have the ID in it or choose not to process those emails. You can't choose to process based on the number of instances the ID is found in the attachment.

    For your questions:

    1.  DLP policies are simple packages that are collections of mail flow rules. You can apply these rules to specific senders, but you cannot specify the OU.

    2.  Yes, you can forward the message for approval.

    3.  Based on my knowledge, you can modify the instance count in the rule. For example:
