First certification help..? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys, I really need your help in picking the right certificate to boost my starting career in the field of network administration and support. Ideally I'm looking for a certificate for a specialist in the field that requires only 1 exam. MCITP Windows Server caught my attention, but I'm not sure if it could be possibly outdated. Please, suggest some certification that is usually required for specialists in the field of network support and administration.

    Thanks a lot!

  • You are right, MCITP is a bit outdated as it covers Windows Server 2008 (R2).

There is certifocation about networking among entery level exams, MTA Networking Fundamentals

Most of Microsoft exams today don't give you specialist certificate after passing only one exam.

If you are into administration, you should think about certification track that replaced MCITP Windows Server Administration , MCSA: Windows Server 2012

It requires three exams to pass and you can upgrade to MCSE: Server Infrastructure with two exams more.

It may take some time to pass three or five exams but in the end it will be well worth it as these certificates earn you some respect when interviewing for job.
