  • I am working as a Software developer in Private company.

    Please let me know, is SQLserver express is free for commercial use or not.


    And it will be more appreciated  if any one provide documentation or terms and conditions regarding using SQLserver express for commercial use.

  • Yes, it is.

    And since 2017, it allows up to 4 cores and 10GB databases, which is a lot for small business apps.

    What you should never do it is to use a Dev Edition for Prod environments.

    SQL Server express is free for commercial use but it has some limitations. If all you would require would be a database instance with limited capacity, it will suit your need. It wont have lots of other featues like SQL Agent, Table Partitioning, Database Mail etc

     I was aware its available in Standard Edition but didnt realize its available for Express as well.

    We are studying the same problem. Is there any written license terms for SQL Server Express 2017 about commercial use? The link you provided said it's only for version 2014 or older.
