Can't get Microsoft Exchange Information Store service to start.

    Question

  • So I have an exchange 2010 server.  For some odd reason, my database is in a dismounted state, and my public database is in an "unknown" state.  Trying to mount it gives me an error.  I did some research, and see that my Microsoft Exchange Information Store wasn't started, and as you know, you need this up for the databases to be mountable (is that a word?).

Anyway, I cannot start the MS exchange store, i get this error:  "Windows could not start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service on Local Computer.  Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start".

After checking its dependencies, I am completely confused as they are all up and running.  Any ideas? Suggestions?  I'm able to connect with my DCs on different servers, and DNS is working.  Thanks in advance.
