Seeding DB complete... ContentIndexState: STILL CRAWLING? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have completed seeding a 43 GIG DB. It finished seeding at 4:15pm, yesterday (6June), and The ContentIndexState is still "crawling". It's HEALTHY It's REPLAYQUEUELENGTH is between 0 and 1 (usually zero) How long do you suspect this will take? What’s average?

    1. Restart the MSExchange Search service on server MB3
    2. Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity DB4\MB3 -CatalogOnly

ALL HEALTHY NOW… NO MORE CRAWLING!

  • I cant say what the average is, it can take some time depending on what it's doing.  What you should see though is an event when ot complete in the event log.

  • Mike,

I wrote a script that will monitor the index state.

    Get-mailboxdatabase | Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus | where {$_.contentindexstate -ne "Healthy" -and $_.contentindexstate -ne "Crawling"} | select Name,DatabaseName,Status,ContentIndexState,MailboxServer,ActiveDatabaseCopy,ActivationSuspended

let me know if you want the full script.
