Reload/Relaunch Task Sequence Wizard from a Task Sequence RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Champs

We plan to dynamically add PC name into SCCM collection, in WinPE using a deployed task sequence (add PC to SCCM collection, Reload TS Wizard). PC add to collection goes successful

Using below commands in F8/CMD prompt, we can reload Task Sequence Wizard successfully, however same fails to launch from a task sequence we deployed, as one TS doesn't allow to launch another wizard .. any work around to ways to get this done, to kill existing smartly and to new reload new ?

    i) x:\sms\bin\i386\TsmBootstrap.exe /env:WinPE /configpath:x:\sms\data  or
    ii) start tsbootshell

    Thanks,

    Vasu

  • This is not supported. Why not use a pre-start task so that whatever you are using to name the system runs before the task sequence engine even starts?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting in TechNet.

I concur with with Jason here. It's recommended to use prestart commands for computer name in task sequence media. For more information, please refer to:

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,
