Outlook 2010/Outlook 2003 SP2 Clients and Exchange 2010 SP2 OAB Distribution RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am working on a Migration of Exchange 2003 SP2 to Exchange 2010 SP2. Public folders will be in use pending when all Exchange 2003 mailboxes are migrated to Exchange 2010. In the meantime I intend to migrate some Outlook 2003/2010 clients' mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010

    1. Can the Outlook 2003 clients with mailboxes migrated to Exchange 2010 still download OAB (Offline Adress Book) after moving the offline address book generation server to Exchange 2010 and using Web Based distribution ?

    2. What can I do to ensure that both Outlook 2010/2003 clients with mailboxes migrated to Exchange 2010 can still download their OAB (Offline Adress Book)

    David

  • Hi,

    1. Outlook 2003 can only download the OAB from Public Folders. Only Outlook 2007 and later understands webdistribution.

    2. Make sure that you have both PublicFolderDistribution- and WebDistribution for the OAB enabled and that you have configured replication for the OAB Public Folder System Folders.
