Move Log File Path without changing Database path?

    Question

  • Is this possible or do you have to change both?  The reason I ask is i tried this with a Public Folder database (change the log path but not the database path) and the change failed.  It was just a test PF database so I just backed out of what I was doing but the UI seems to imply that you have to change both.

  • From what I can tell, you can do this via the Shell commands (just provide the LogFolderPath, not the databasePath, but if you do it via the Console it doesn't really give the option to only move the log file path.

Move-DatabasePath –Identity “First Storage Group\Mailbox Database”   –LogFolderPath G:\SG1
