Pre Cache Operating system upgrade packages RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
We are trying to upgrade Windows 10 to 1803 for the older versions. Operating system upgrade package content need to be pre downloaded for the VPN (Work from home) users. Operating system upgrade package do not show in Download Package Content under Task sequence -> Software.

Please help how to pre cache the Operating system upgrade package. So that when the In-Place Operating system task sequence deployed then it will complete the upgrade immediately

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting in TechNet.

May we know which version of Configuration Manager you are using? Please check the smsts.log to see if the devices have received the deployment.

Please remember to deploy the upgrade task sequence with following deployment option: Download all content locally before starting task sequence. This will make sure that the content already in the CCM cache is used and that content is not downloaded yet again.

For the pre-cache feature, please configure the following settings during the TS deployment:
1.On the General tab, select Pre-download content for this task sequence.
2.On the Deployment settings tab, configure the task sequence as Available.
3.On the Scheduling tab, choose the currently selected time for the setting, Schedule when this deployment will be available. The client starts pre-caching content at the deployment's available time.
4.On the Distribution Points tab, configure the Deployment options settings to 'Download all content locally before starting task sequence'.

For more information, please refer to the official article:
    Configure pre-caching

    Some threads for your reference:
Pre-cache is downloading, but launched TS still pulling from DP
How do I get SCCM to not download ALL packages in a task sequence?

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,
    Simon

  • Thank you so much for replying.
Put some conditions in the task sequence step for the Language Pact.
I am able to achieve precache contents.
