Windows 2004 Upgrade - Sysprep results in failure to remove "staged app" InputApp RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've tried a few things including modifying the protected status of this app. But it does not appear installed for any user. I don't know if staged is the exact same thing as provisioned or if it means something else. But SCCM's sysprep is throwing the following errors:

2020-06-30 10:13:37, Error SYSPRP Failed to remove staged package InputApp_1000.18362.449.0_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy: 0x80070002.[gle=0x00000002]
2020-06-30 10:13:37, Error SYSPRP Failed to remove apps for the current user: 0x80070002.
2020-06-30 10:13:37, Error SYSPRP Exit code of RemoveAllApps thread was 0x2.[gle=0x0000012a]
2020-06-30 10:13:37, Error SYSPRP Failed to remove all apps: 0x80070002.[gle=0x0000012a]

I know all the regular ways of using powershell to remove apps, please don't waste time on that. There's something wrong with this version of Windows. Please let me know a workaround to sysprep and capture.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting in TechNet.

May we know if it's a Microsoft Store apps? Please refer to the following article:
Sysprep fails after you remove or update Microsoft Store apps that include built-in Windows images

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,

  • This is actually a problem reported in a few places. I believe it is a result of upgrading to 2004 and the apps are not unset as protected, but sysprep still wants to remove them. I think it needs a patch from MS in order to resolve.
