Hi We are using Exchange Sever 2007 Ent Edtn with Outlook 2007 SP2.

Error: "The item could not be saved because it has been changed by another user in another window . do you want to make a copy in the default folder for the item?"

One of our user facing this problem that when he edit an Email (For ex:some message content e.g delete attachments) and then attempt to close /save the Email after 10-20 minutes, Outlook does not permit the amended message to be saved (see an error message above).he is able to save the amended message only if he close the message immediately or with in 2-3 minutes. Pls note no other ‘related window’ is open.

We are also using blackberry enterprise server and the user is also a blackberry user.

Pls assist for resolving this issue.

  • That's a Blackberry Enterprise Server issue.  What happens is that you have the message open and then the message is received on the BB.  At that point BES tags the message with a reference ID (changes it).  So when your user goes to save it the BES server has already modified it in the background.

There isn't any solution exactly, but there is a workaround...wait for the message to be received on the Blackberry FIRST, then open and edit the message - the reference ID will already be on it.  If he's impatient he could "Reconcile Now" to force the BB to get the new messages.
