  • I would suggest that you download and install SP4 for SQL 2012 instead. In my opinion running the RTM version of SQL 2012 is not defenisble.

  • Hi Felyjos,

Could you please share us SQL Server Setup log within %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log? Please refer to View and Read SQL Server Setup Log Files.

In addition, SQL Server RTM is out of support. It is recommended to install SQL Server 2012 SP4 and the security update for SQL Server 2012 SP4 GDR.

    You can download from here:

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 4

Security update for SQL Server 2012 SP4 GDR

    Best Regards,

    Amelia

  • There is this error:

A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair for instance 'SQLEXPRESS' during configuration for features [SQL_Replication_Core_Inst,SQL_Engine_Core_Inst,MPT_AGENT_CORE_CNI,SQL_FullText_Adv,]. In order to apply this patch package (KB2716442), you must resolve any issues with the previous operation that failed. View the summary.txt log to determine why the previous operation failed.
        HResult : 0x84b20001

I would attempt to install SP4 as recommended by Amelia, although it is possible that will fail with the same error. In such you would have to work yourself backwards in the Setup logs to find the previous failure.
