Outlook 2010 Startup Very Slow 'Loading profile' RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Outlook 2010 taking 5-10 to load. In the first 1-3 minutes it's saying 'Loading profile' and In 4-7 minutes It's saying 'Processing' finally after few minutes It's loading all emails.

I have Tried removing all files/profiles and outlook /safe and disabled all addins nothing worked. I also tried enabling logging option, but unable to get logs for first 1-7 minuts, i could see the logs after outlook is loaded.

Is there any way to troubleshoot this kind of issue? No errors/events found in event viewer.

We have outlook 2010 SP1, and Exchange Server 2007 SP3

I would appreciate if i get any good solution.

    Regards

    Antony

  • You can try Outlook logging

Use NetMon to see what it's doing.

Compare this to a working PC.

  • what is the size of your mailbox? Have you deleted a large amount of data recently?

Are you using Outlook in cache mode?

In this case offline defragmentation of the Outlook chache may solve the problem. use the contig Tool from sysinternals (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897428.aspx) doing the defragmentation.

  • Hi,

If you are the first to login outlook, it is normal to run slowly to load files because it needs to configure. If you are not the first, then you need to check the following:

    1.        Check whether outlook runs the same slow with startup

    2.        Check whether other processes in this computer also run very slow

If the above checks are yes, this issue is maybe due to computer performance, operator system setting or other software issue. You can ask your admin to optimize this computer and then check again.

You will get more if you post this thread to Outlook forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/threads

If you encounter any difficulties, please let us know.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

have you configured Sites on the Active Directory. Maybe your clients are authenticated by the Europe AD Site and not by the US side although this side is closere to you. It is recommended that you put one Global Catalog at each side.

Have you analyzed the time it took for users to authenticate and then to access the Exchange mailbox?
