Microsoft Azure Speech to Text remote connection error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to convert an audio file into text using Azure's speech to text SDK and getting an error stating no remote hostconnections. I am sure that I have the right key (blanked below) and region. Code and error:

    import azure.cognitiveservices.speech as speechsdk

    # Creates an instance of a speech config with specified subscription key and service region.
    # Replace with your own subscription key and region identifier from here: https://aka.ms/speech/sdkregion
    speech_key, service_region= "<my service_key>", "uksouth"
    speech_config=speechsdk.SpeechConfig(subscription=speech_key, region = service_region )

    # Creates an audio configuration that points to an audio file.
    # Replace with your own audio filename.
    audio_filename = "'Berlin Wall' Speech - President Reagan's Address at the Brandenburg Gate - 6_12_87-5MDFX-dNtsM.wav"
    audio_input = speechsdk.audio.AudioConfig(filename=audio_filename)

    # Creates a recognizer with the given settings
    speech_recognizer = speechsdk.SpeechRecognizer(speech_config=speech_config, audio_config=audio_input)

    Error details: Connection failed (no connection to the remote host). Internal error: 1. Error details: 2460. Please check network connection, firewall setting, and the region name used to create speech factory.

    Anyone know how I can fix this?
