Exchange CU11 hybrid with Office365, journaling issue RRS feed

  • Hello everyone,
    We are using Exchange CU11 on-premises and Exchange Online hybrid deployment. We have enabled the centralized transfer attribute. At the same time, we set up journal rules for all messages on-premises and EXO.

    I have already opened the case for Office365. If both the EXO and the on-premises enable the journal rules for all messages, the external mail will be recorded both.

    Now we have a problem:
    Some external mail can only be recorded on the EXO journal rules, but cannot be recorded on Exchange CU11.

    How should I troubleshoot?

  • Hi Tao,

    Please run the following command on both Exchange online and Exchange 2016 server, check if the same rule were created on Exchange 2016:

    Get-JournalRule "RuleName"
    If no difference, please check if there is any transport rule has applied to these external mails on Exchange 2016 server.

    Thanks for your reply.

    The same rule on Exchange 2016.

    Also checked transport rules, didn't apply any rules for external mails.

    Any suggestion on this?

    If delete or disable the existed journal rule on Exchange 2016, and then create a new one, is there the same issue persists?

  • Check for rule of journaling.

    Run message trace and check if those mails are failing.
