Copying to share using DFS name -- hangs at 99% for a minute RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have seen a problem lately where copying a file (or files) to a share using the DFS namespace proceeds as normal, but then gets to 99% and hangs there for a minute then completes.

I then did the same operation to the same share, but using the server name (not the DFS namespace) and the file copies normally as expected, and doesn't hang at 99%.

Has anyone run into this problem and how to solve this kind of issue?

    Regards,

  • Hello Vincent,

Does the file replicate to other servers? if so, can you try the copy operation across all replicating partners using the UNC path to eliminate corruption of the file in one of the target folders?

  • Hello Miguel,

Yes, the files is replicate between 2 DFS servers, I using UNC and copy files to direct servers then no issue, but it is happen on using DFS-N hang add 99% for a minute.

    Ex:\\domain.local\dfs-folder

  • Hi,
From my side, I would  capture the whole processes and a network package to see what would happen during the period when copy the file.
