Cancelled meetings not removed from Resource Calendars. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have Exchange 2010 and use Resource Mailbox.  A meeting cancelled is not removed automatically from the Resource Calendar, instead it has been marked as "Cancelled-Meeting Subject"

    Any idea?

  • Hi oactel,

For this issue, I suggest you have a look for this document:

Setting calendar Options For Resource Mailboxes in Exchange 2010

    http://www.howexchangeworks.com/2010/09/setting-calendar-options-for-resource.html

I tested on lab (Exchange 2010 SP1), when I create a new resource mailbox (didn’t set anything on it),and cancelled a meeting  request, it worked as your described. After I check “Enable the Resource Booking Attendant. The Resource Book Attendant enables the resource mailbox to process requests and cancellations automatically” for resource mailbox. when I cancel the meeting request, it will be removed from the resource calendar.

If the issue persists after you do that, I suggest you follow Andy’s suggestion to explain the problem in detail.

    Thanks,

    Evan Liu

Exactly. If you are using the Resource mailboxes as designed in 2007 and 2010, the meeting is removed. If you are direct booking ( and you should not be), then you are doing it wrong!)

  • 1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280854 - Although this is for an older version of Outlook, I believe this still applies to your env.

    2. http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/cancelled_meetings.asp You may to follow this as a workaround.

    3. You can try Set-MailboxCalendarSettings with the RemoveOldMeetingMessages

  • How are you deleting these meetings? Does this happen with all meetings and with all your resource mailboxes?

Have you opened the resource calendar mailbox directly and verified that the meeting is still on the calendar with the "Cancelled" in the subject?

Does it happen with both OWA and Outlook?

It should be removed from the resource calendar so something is amiss.
