Exchange 2010 - Move mailbox database from one Exchange server to another exchange server RRS feed

  • Question

  • What is the power shell command where I can move a mailbox database from one exchange to another exchange server.

They are within the same domain.  Each exchange server are in different locations.

Do not worry about the DAG.

    I have this command:

    Move-DatabasePath -Identity MailStore444 -EdbFilePath E:\MailStorage\MailDB_44.edb

How do you use that command to copy from one server to another --- >  source to destination

  • Move-DatabasePath is just to move the database location from one folder/drive to another on the same server, but not to other server.

Not sure what do you mean by "Do not worry about the DAG", does that mean these servers are not part of the same DAG?

If this servers are part of the DAG then you can create a database copy on another server and remove the copy from first server.

If these servers are standalone servers and you need to move the db then you can use database portability feature. Steps are outlined here : http://blogs.technet.com/b/mukutdas/archive/2014/06/13/step-by-step-to-perform-database-portability.aspx
