I am deploying a multi-server Exchange 2007 architecture. So far, we have deployed a Client Access Server, a Hub Transport Server and a Mailbox Server. We have an EA with Microsoft, and used the same key to activate each one. We just realized that it was an Enterprise version key and we only need Standard for the HTS and CAS servers. I have a standard key that I want to apply to these servers. My question is, does anyone no if that can be done without removing and re-installing Exchange? I tried using the power shell command to add the key, but it told me it was already activated. Any suggestions that would allow me to do this without a removal/reinstall would be appreciated.
You cannot use product keys to downgrade from the Enterprise Edition to the Standard Edition, nor can you use them to revert back to the Trial Edition. These types of downgrades can only be done by uninstalling Exchange 2007, reinstalling Exchange 2007, and entering in the correct product key.
