profile last several minutes to load using remote desktop RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi to All,

I am doing remote desktop to a Windows 2016 server. After I successfully logon in the credentials window, my profile takes a while to load.

What troubleshooting do you recommend me to do?

    Warm regards MeVs

  • > Once you logon to the server, open the command prompt and check which domain controller you are getting authenticated from. Open command prompt and type >Set l to check or start -> run -> type %logonserver% - it could be that you are getting logged on to a different site domain controller.

    > Check the Profile Size and also if there is any Group Policy for folder redirection enabled which is re-directing the folders to a server which is in a remote location with low bandwidth.

    >Check if its the same issue on all the other servers. Ideally use your admin account only to logon to the server rather than the user which is having a roaming profile attached. Create a local admin account.

  • Hello,
Thank you for posting in our TechNet forum.

    We can check:

    1. If we create a new domain user without any custom GPO settings except Default Domain Policy settings, then logon remotely with this new domain user to check if this user profile loads quickly.

    2. We can check which the logon DC is by typing set, then check if the DC is in the right site.

    3. Check which interface it lasts for a long time when logging in.

  • Hi,
We can see using our eyes, I mean it loads user profile slowly or it loads group policy slowly when the user account logons.

  • Hi,
Whether we check the following? If no, we can check it.
If we create a new domain user without any custom GPO settings except Default Domain Policy settings, then logon remotely with this new domain user to check if this user profile loads quickly.

If login locally instead of remotely, if the user profile loads quickly.

For the tool, we can use Process Monitor.

  • Hi,
We can create a new test doamin user.  We do not apply any GPO to this test domain user.

Logon with this user locally to check if it loads user profile quickly or not.
Logon with this user remotely to check if it loads user profile quickly or not.

No, login locally loads faster thatn user profile.  In fact, user profil still loads slowly

  • Today I realized if a computer is unjoined from the domain and then joined, then the problem is solved.

This was done in three computers and in all three it was solved.

In these cases, I am still need to locate what causes this. Any help

  • The problem is not solved, on the contrary it remains.

The removal of server from the domain and re-enter it, is not a solution

Could you help me with one please Daisy?

    Thanks in advanced
