I've been wondering why the Forefront client engine uses so much memory on my machine.
A quick google search came up with numbers of a couple hundred KB as the normal working set size at idle.
Currently MsMpEnge.exe is using 160 MB of memory at idle on my machine with no real reason to do so.
When the process restarts after I manually kill it, it immediately allocates 160MB of virtual memory and 70MB of physical memory working set.
It seems to be consistantly competing for top memory usage during normal business use along with IE8 and Safari.
Could you use the Process Monitor to see what is msmpeng.exe doing
