Error when trying to run Usage Reports - Something Went Wrong

    Question

  • Complete error: Could not retrieve search top TopQuery report data for site: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: We're sorry, we weren't able to complete the operation, please try again in a few minutes. If you see this message repeatedly, contact your administrator. (Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: We're sorry, we weren't able to complete the operation, please try again in a few minutes. If you see this message repeatedly, contact your administrator.    at Microsoft.Office.Server.SPScaleOutDatabaseMap.CreateSqlSession(ISPScaleOutDatabaseMapProvider mapProvider, Byte[] compositeKey, Guid forceRefreshVersion, Guid& version)     at ...

The Search Service Application exists, when I verify with Get-SPServiceApplication, but have no receivers.

The two jobs Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Import runs every five minutes and Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Usage Data Processing does not appear to run, but other sites says this can be normal and I do not see anything being written to EventStore.

There is no WSS_Logging database for some reason.

I am trying to get the usage reports generating.

  • Hi IvyFK,

To troubleshoot the issue, check things below:

    1. Create a new search service application and associate the new search service application to the web application.

    2.  And then run a full crawl to check if it can work.

    3. Run SharePoint 2013 products configuration wizard.

    Best regards,
