Lync Server 2010 Group Chat Server Channel service becomes un-operational

    Question

  • We are seeing the issue in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2741974 when the DC's get patched in our environment.  We are trying to be proactive so that we can restart the Channel Service before users start reporting the issue.  (Patching team will only give us a 4 day window, not exact date/time for this DC patching)

How can I determine which DC the Channel Service is bound to in advance so that we can be proactive on this?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Base on my understanding, the DC Lync Server 2010 Group Chat Server Channel service connected should be the DC that the Group Chat Server deployed in.

Then after this DC get patch, restart the Lync Server 2010 Group Chat Server Channel service.

    Best Regards

  • We have multiple DC's, very large environment.  Large enough that the patch window is 3 days.  Is there any way to determine which DC the channel service is actually bound to?  We know we need to restart the channel service when the DC gets rebooted, we are looking for a way to determine which DC to keep an eye on.

    Thanks!
