DNS Replica not working RRS feed

  • Hi there,

    I'm a just qualified Windows administrator and have not much experience, I'm having trouble to fix the replication issue I'm having in my new job, can someone please help me by telling me how do I troubleshooting my two DNS Servers that are not replicating?

    when I joint the job it was working well, I did realized two weeks ago that entering data from one DNS Server, the data was not replicating in the other server even after 5 days.

    I have searched online but could not find something that could show me how to fix this problem.

    I really appreciate your help in advance.

  • Hi Leon,

    Thank you for replying, the situation is as follow:

    normally when I log into the DNS Server and click on the DNS this shows me all the servers, switches and firewalls that are in the domain, but since a few days ago I logged on and it did not showed me all instead it seams like there're missing. I know there are not missing as when I logged onto the other DNS I can find them all there. That's how I realized that there were a replication failing to happen. 

    I now as the administrator have to search what is the issue and troubleshoot it, But like I earlier said, I have not much experience on this situations.

    I will appreciate any of your help to solve this replication/synchronization issue.

  • Hello 

    Please follow a phased approach.

    1. Confirm you can access the server.

    2. Confirm the DNS services are running on both servers.

    3. Open up the NDS Console and the checkout the following:

    • Start of authority (properties) - multiple names for servers that do not exist.
    • Records that have incorrect IP addresses.
    • Stale records that have not been deleted.
    • "(Same as parent folder)" host records that do not refer to DCs.
    • Find the start of authority (SOA) and name server (NS) records in the domain forward lookup zone (see image below).
      • Right-click each and select Properties.
      • Verify the name servers and other information are correct

    4. Confirm that you can ping the servers by IP Address.

    5. Check the networking on the servers and the switch to confirm traffic flow.

  • hello,

    If the document was created online, confirm that it was saved in onedrive.

    Log into onedrive on your computer and sync the files downwards until they have a green icon.

    Now you can work offline and once connected to internet, the changes will be synced.

    What does this mean? How did you do this? Can you upload screenshots related to this?
