Win 10 Pro: how to configure for work offline in a browser on host with an ubuntu 14.04 guest

    Pertanyaan

  • Hi,

I can work in the browser on the windows host with an external switch and eth0 configured in etc/network/interfaces on the guest. The interfaces file is the one below, my first question is how to configure a static address for the internal switch (eth0 is for the external one). Second is: can I just use that static address in the host browser when working offline (like I use the address in eth0 when working online).

    interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
    auto lo eth0
    iface lo inet loopback

    iface eth0 inet static
    address 192.168.1.119
    netmask 255.255.255.0
    gateway 192.168.1.1
    dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8

I suppose I need to create a virtual nat network on the host, so I did using using https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/user-guide/setup-nat-network. The output of Get-NetAdapter  in the powershell is the following where the second line (vEthernet (Ubuntu inte) points to the internal switch.

  • Thanks for your reply Michael,

Any idea how much delay could be expected? I did not get your reaction forwarded to my emailaddress (edited for the account).

    Best regards, Stefan.

  • Note that these forums are not official support mechanisms, so the amount of delay is dependent upon some knowledgeable volunteer reading your question and having the time to respond to it.

Since your question is about Hyper-V on Windows 10, you will reach more experts in the Windows 10 virtualization forum found at https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=win10itprovirt.  Though the same engine drives Hyper-V on both the server and client platforms, the management and configuration interfaces differ.  This forum is for server-based Hyper-V issues.
