Outlook 2010 user cannot open certain shared folders

    Pertanyaan

  • Hi all,

We have an odd issues that started a few days ago. Outlook 2010 sp2 users cannot access certain shared folders when added as shared folders. They see the following message

"Cannot expand folder. The set of folders cannot be opened"

These shared folders can be opened in Office 2013 and 2016. Not all shared folders are affected.

Mailboxes are on Office 365, we can access them via OWA. If we set up the shared mailbox with its own profile in 2010 then the mailbox can be opened.

Anyone come across a similar issue?

    thanks

    Dej

  • Hi Dej,

How did you open the shared folders?
Did you test with the same user's account on different versions of Office?

If the shared mailbox was added as an additional mailbox via File > Account Settings > More Settings, please contact the owner of the shared mailbox to review the permissions they have set and ensure the 'Folder visible' box is ticked for the shared folder and all its parent folders.

  • Hi,

No resolution yet, we upgraded users to Office 2013 and the same issue is occuring.

We also are seeing Autodiscover failures (via fiddler), we logged this with Microsoft and they asked us to add the EXCLUDESCPLOOKUP reg key to users.

However, adding the reg key still does not resolve the issue for Outook 2010 users, or users who have been upgraded to 2013.

  • Hi Dejul,

    Thanks for sharing the updates.

Do you mean these shared folders can only be accessed in Outlook 2016? Or the issue affects all Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013 that are upgraded from Outlook 2010?

If you mean the latter, have you tried to completely uninstall Office 2010 with the easy fix tool (See Option 2 in this link.) and then reinstall Office 2013 to check the result?

    Regards,

    Yuki Sun

    Hi Dejul,

Great to see that it works after upgrading to Outlook 2013 and thanks so much for your sharing! By the way, do you mind helping mark your post above as answer to close the thread so that others who might have a similar issue can also benefit from your thread?

Thanks again for your understanding and support :)
